PHOTO # 5
For Moapa Palms Reports

Photo taken in 11/1979 of straight line of palms planted in 1903 said to be planted from "transplants" by a man named "Syphus" at the natural Blue Point Springs on Lake Mead National recreation area Property. This springs has been the target of aggressive Palm removal by Park Authority. Although these particular palms are historical adventives, I show them here to demonstrate the markedly slow growth of these palms in an area Natural warm Springs. The shortest palm on the left is only 6 meters or so from the stream. The tallest tree is about 27 feet to the center of the crown. Nearby bedrock mortars suggest palms were originally in this location long ago.
